The latest version of the Open Source “GRASS GIS” has been released. Geographic Resources Analysis Support System (GRASS) is a GIS which allows for vector and raster spatial processing as well as the capabilities for spatial modelling, visualisation, management, manipulation  and analysis of spatial data.
